Dinghy tubular pressure: how to properly inflate

Dinghy tubular pressure: this is a recurring issue because an inadequate inflation level often causes malfunctions, which are mistakenly ascribed to a poor quality of the materials or valves of the boat itself. The pressure of the tubulars of the dinghy depends on many factors, such as the temperature of the air inside them and the way they are inflated. For this reason, it is important that the inflation phase is carried out in the correct way, if you do not want to run into unpleasant surprises during navigation or premature deterioration of fabrics.

PRESSURE VARIATIONS OF THE TUBULARS OF A DINGHY

Do you usually inflate your dinghy in the morning or in the evening?

Inside a garage before leaving, or by the sea?

These may seem unnecessary questions, but they may actually explain some pressure drops that normally occur; this is because the pressure inside the tubulars continuously undergoes variations based on the fluctuations of the air temperature.

For example, if you inflate your dinghy early in the morning, you will notice towards lunchtime that its tubulars will be much stiffer, almost as if you inflated them too much. Vice- versa, if you deflate them a little, they will seem "too deflated" by the time the sun sets.

The pressure variations of the tubulars of an inflatable boat

So, when you inflate your dinghy with an electric, manual or foot pump you do not only enter air, but also water vapor, the quantity of which will be greater based on the humidity present in the place where you perform the operation: if you inflate it by the sea or lake, for example, these quantities will certainly be greater.

This is completely normal, but it is important to know in order to reach the perfect pressure of the tubulars that, while the air will sooner or later tend to escape during use, the water will continue to accumulate, inevitably damaging their fabric after a long period, especially when it comes to salt water.

PRESSURE OF THE TUBULARS: THE ROLE OF THE MANOMETER

The first fundamental element to reach the correct pressure of the tubulars is, without a doubt, the pressure gauge, which is standard in all our inflators (electric and manual).

Why is it integrated?

The answer is simple: it is more reliable.

There are several solutions on the market that you can buy "separately" from the inflator, but, certainly, the risk of having discrepancies between the functioning of the two devices is higher.

Whether you choose to buy one of our products or not, our best advice is to always turn to a "full optional" finished product, which allows you to reach the pressure levels indicated by the manufacturer. This way, youu won’t have to make attempts or carry out continuous checks which, in the case of discrepancies, only increase doubts about which of the three devices (inflatable boat, inflator and pressure gauge) may have problems

DINGHY PRESSURE: THE IMPORTANCE OF ACCESSORIES AND MATERIALS

Regardless of the type of inflator for dinghies you are interested in (if you need some help, take a look at this article), a further important element to achieve the correct pressure of the inflatable is the components of the inflator.

A latest generation device, made with resistant and ultralight materials, it allows you to inflate and deflate all types of inflatable boats and tubulars, in a simple and safe way. At the same time, you can also use it for swimming pools, dinghies, kayaks and any other type of aquatic inflatables, thanks to the adapters and inflation fittings for all the common valves.
